Projects you can help with in Mozambique:
1. WATER WELLS:
$10,500 drills a well. Contribute any amount to this fund and when this total is received, we drill the next well on our list Drilling a new well provides life saving clean water for 1000’s of people in a village who depend on surface water for their daily drinking and washing needs. Many villages use the same pond for ALL their needs (drinking, bathing, and washing clothes).
2. GOAT PROJECT:
$60 buys a pregnant female Our goat project, started in Sept., 2011 is now producing over 40 offspring a year. The objective is to provide meat for our orphans as well as provide a starter herd for orphans desiring a career in breeding meat goats.
3. ROCKET STOVES:
$20 builds a stove for a widow A “Mozambican Microwave” has now been installed in the 24 orphan/widow homes at our mission base.
Our brick layers are ready to take this program to the village grandmothers and aunts who are raising the 2,700+ orphans living in remote areas of the 3 counties we serve.
This gift provides the mud bricks and the labor needed to build 1 stove.
Benefits of these stoves:
- Uses only 3 pieces of firewood to cook a meal vs. 8 pieces in an open cook fire.
- Cooks the meal much more quickly than an open fire (thus the name “Moz. Microwave”)
- Basically produces an efficient flame with very little smoke (smoke being a major cause of respiratory problems in Moz. women)
- Protects children from catching their clothing on fire as they try to keep warm in the cold season. The fire is contained inside the brick walls providing warmth without an open flame.
