BUSH BEAT: Jan./Feb. 2005

THE BUSH BUNNY TOUR

It's always nice to be with family and friends as you always treat me with such love which I greatly need and appreciate! As I tour, I am explaining the full vision that god has revealed to us, and that is what I want to pass on to you now. It is God's awesome answer to a massive problem. With the Lord's divine provision, knowledge, wisdom, and guidance, it can be done.

GOD'S 5 YEAR VISION FOR ORPHANS UNLIMITED IN SOUTHERN AFRICA

Objectives:

  1. Cut the root causes perpetuating the orphan problem
  2. Form a model rescue and rehabilitation program for orphans and widows that can be duplicated in any part of Africa.
  3. Self sufficiency within 5 years from it's formation by establishing an economic system to sustain the model.
  4. Provide job skills training and job creation to build the economy and give a sustainable future to the orphans.

Facts:

  1. Next 10 years; an estimated 12 million additional orphans will be formed on the African continent.
  2. Present number of orphans is already too great for the orphanages in Africa.
  3. Few jobs exist for our orphans nearing graduation, giving them little future except small scale farming.
  4. Preventable measures are available to cut the major roots of the orphan problem, but little effective action is being taken.

The Lord has chosen orphans unlimited to become a part of the solution to these problems.

Complacency now equals no easy solution by 2010.

ROOTS TO BE CUT

  1. Lack of education and job opportunities for existing orphans

Solution: Technical School and Jobs Creation with Micro Business Training Dorm extension to support this educational program (needed immediately as many of our orphans are nearing graduation.)  Programs to be started in 2005 as funds are available.

  2. Death of parents due to:

A. Aids, malaria, TB  Solution: Abstinence teaching, testing, and treatment via a county wide mobile clinic program.  AIDS virus control is possible!

B. Cholera and dysentery  Solution: Drilling water wells and providing pumps, as clean water is the answer. The majority of the present wells in our county have been condemned due to contamination or debris blockage. New wells are the answer. details

C. Death of mothers in child birth due to lack of medical facilities in remote areas. Solution: Building more local clinics and providing education on healthcare.

GOD'S PLAN:

1. Build a technical school and begin classes by 2006 with Jobs Training in 10 areas

  • Auto/maize mill mechanics
  • Welding-leading to agricultural tool manufacturing
  • Carpentry- Mechanized and hand held tools to provide the needed furniture for the dorms, schools, and clinics in the vision English Classes as interpreters are badly needed through out the country
  • Computer Classes (asking for 20 teaching computers) to provide access for our kids into government and private industry, which is expanding in the coastal cities of Mozambique.
  • Housing Construction with our newly donated Hydroform Brick machine that makes 1800 cement bricks/day (compared to 300/day by hand)
  • Maize Mill Management and repair to provide jobs and make the program self sufficient
  • Pre-school Teachers Training to start more village pre-schools
  • Manual Sewing Machine classes to provide women with jobs making economical children's clothing for the 1000's who need it.
  • Agricultural programs teaching commercial poultry and green house production for sale to restaurants in the cities who are begging for it.
  • Money Management and small business training will be required for graduation and qualification for a micro business loan to start their own business.

The state governor has already donated 12 acres for the building of this school!

  • Building costs of 3 workshops, 6 classrooms, lunch room and support
    facilities: $215,640
  • Machinery with diesel generators for all 3 workshops: $69,879
  • Classroom equipment including 20 computers and teacher's budget for all 10 classes for 1 year: $205,784

2. Expand the present student dorm system from 72 to 200 beds so that Balama can qualify to receive the 10-12 grades in the next 4 years.

  • Building Cost: $ 68,600
  • Dormitory/Kitchen set up costs for 125 additional children: $36,360

3. Expand the orphan program to assist 1000 kids county-wide by Dec. 2006, and make it self sufficient

Install maize mills with warehouses throughout the county to provide a much needed community service and an income to support the program. The warehouses would be used to start an agricultural coop for the widows and abandoned women needing an income, and feed the orphaned or malnourished children in that area.

  • A major seed company in S. Africa has already donated all the seed we need to support this program.
  • Cost per orphan $607/child (includes construction of 200 small brick huts that house 5 foster kids per household.)

4. Expand the malnutrition 7 rehabilitation program to assist 1000 kids county wide

Special food supplements to be used which help a malnourished child recover in 2-3 months.

  • Cost: $495/year/mother and child in the program
  • Staff for management and distribution (annual budget):$14,700
  • Construction Cost of building 4 remote distribution centers: $76,800

5. Formation of orphan prevention program in conjunction with malnutrition program

Mobile Clinic and staff to work in conjunction with food distribution to give education and free testing for AIDS, TB, and Malaria. Treatments will be offered.

  • Mobile Clinic: $50,000 (4 wheel drive a must for bad roads)
  • Medical Staff: $9,900 annually
  • Medical Supply Costs estimated for 20,000 patients per year: $60,000

AIDS control is possible with a new food supplement (developed and only available in Africa). It's made from a special African potato and a high protein worm!  It is not a cure, but daily consumption allows an aids sufferer to live a useful life. I believe it is God's answer to the innocent women and children who have been infected with AIDS through abuse or promiscuous husbands. It is inexpensive (about $30/month for adults and $10-15/month per child, depending on age). Keeping mothers alive is much more economical than taking care of her children to adulthood.

6. Construction of 2 small clinics with maternity care in remote bush areas where no medical care exists

These areas are greatly contributing to the orphan problem as no medical care exists for Preventable death due to disease and to death in childbirth, which leaves many orphans.

  • Construction cost: $20,000/clinic
  • Staff: (2 nurses and 2 assistants) $4,200 annually
  • Medical supplies to be supplied by the government

7. Jobs creation to form a financially sustainable district wide program

  1. 28 Maize mills: $17,650 each (includes warehouse and the building to protect the mill).
  2. Transport/mechanic program to support the entire program: $494,200
(Includes all vehicle purchases and maintenance needed for the establishment of all programs listed.)
  3. Welding/Tool Production: $8,000
  4. Sewing/Clothing Production: $2,250
  5. Greenhouse Vegetable Production: $2,250 per location for building a greenhouse
  6. Home Building Team Business: $7,200/team for start up costs
  7. Guinea Fowl Production Business: $5,000 for start up costs
  8. Water Well Installation and Maintenance Business: $2,000
  9. Lumber/Carpentry Business with mobile saw mill for cutting boards and
construction timbers: $6,000 (cost of mobile saw)

This vision is far greater than anything I could have imagined, and it will require at least 10 qualified people, who will pledge a year or more of their life to help provide the locals with the training and supervision needed to make this vision a reality.

IS THE HOLY SPIRIT SPEAKING TO YOU ABOUT THIS?

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

  1. Pray in the funds with us. It's His vision, and He will provide in many different ways, but we have to do our part by calling it in! Spread the vision to all you know. Exposure means more partners.
  2. Be a goer and doer if the Lord so directs. Construction supervision help is needed by June, 2005 and the teachers/program supervisors by 2006.
  3. Be a sender by helping those called to come.
  4. Pick your favorite program to support through prayer and love gifts.

It will be an 'adventure' to watch the vision become a reality as we all pull together to put this into motion!

Nothing is impossible when God reveals it. Imagine how Noah felt when God gave him the plans for the ark!

I leave March 2nd for Africa to begin this work as the Lord provides. I really appreciate your prayers and love notes, so please write when you can.

God's Blessings to all of you!
