BUSH BEAT: August 2004Awesome testimony from Radhika in Balama. WITCH DOCTOR SAVED!While I was gone to Zambia, Radhika visited the female witch doctor living across from our church. The Lord anointed Rad with much WORD WISDOM as the woman proudly showed Rad the "medicine hut" where she kept the tools of her trade. That friendship visit sparked curiosity in this woman's heart. She visited Rad and within a week of listening to how much Jesus loved her, SHE SAW THE LIGHT and confessed HIM as Lord and Saviour! The very next Sunday, this woman testified before our church and her demons left! Satanic powers cannot stay when Jesus is Lord! Our pastors are busy disciplining her daily as she is hungry for the TRUTH. This testimony has already shocked the area, and we believe that the Lord will use this woman as a great witness to those who believed in her witchcraft. ZAMBIA PROJECT TAKES ROOTAfter my visit last year, I knew Orphans Unlimited was to work permanently in Zambia, so I purchased a 4 bedroom brick home ($6,000) in the neighborhood near where the Community Christian School was to be built. This is now our office and living area for our new Zambian born administrator and his wife, Benson and Brenda Matembo. Benson has been working with Gerald in Malawi for the last 4 years, receiving certification as an A.C.E. teacher, and gaining much administration knowledge. As I worked with him during this week, I found him to be well educated and a fast learner. Together we began to set up a pastoral board so that O.U. can receive government registration in Zambia. PLANS WERE FINALIZED TO BREAK GROUND FOR CONSTRUCTION FOR PHASE 1 OF THE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL. It will seat 125 students and will be finished by January (just in time for the 2005 school year beginning in Feb.) We will complete the school next year once the Feb. to April rainy season is over. Benson will oversee this project along with a Christian builder from one of the churches supporting this program. O.U. ZAMBIA IS UP and RUNNING AT LAST! WHAT DID $50 DO?Rachael, 17, is our first Zambian orphan to graduate high school (Dec. 2004) Her life's desire is to become a lawyer, and she has the grades to do it! She needed $10 to take her university entrance exam, which O.U. gladly provided! Zambia has a good education system, and I praise God they make it affordable to bright kids like Rachael! $600/YEAR IS ALL THAT IS NEEDED FOR HER COLLEGE EDUCATION! Includes room and board at the university. Her test results will be known by November, and we are believing with Rachael that God will provide a sponsor for her university fees. Angelica, a 10th grade orphan, came to me in tears. She goes to the church where our orphans attend school, but is not a sponsored child in our program. Living with an aunt, she kept herself in school by earning enough money to get a uniform and her books. She is in the HONORS class, but was being THROWN OUT of school that week for failure to pay the $40/year school fee. O.U. intervened, paying her school fee to give this bright and industrious teenager a chance at 11th grade. THANKS TO YOU WHO SPONSOR OUR PROGRAM, THESE KIDS and MANY OTHERS KNOW THAT JESUS LOVES THEM, and WANTS THEM TO HAVE A FUTURE! JESUS SAVES DOGS TOO!Sarah, our 19 year old missionary in Balama, Moz., has a new puppy named D-O-G. DOG, only 2 months old, must have cornered a spitting cobra that slithered through our fence as the puppy was found with her face and eyes swollen and in a lot of pain. They PRAYED for the dog's healing and then e-mailed me for treatment advice. BEFORE THEY GOT MY ANSWER, THE SWELLING HAD GONE and D-O-G WAS FULLY HEALED and BACK TO NORMAL! My guard dogs have suffered such attacks and with immediate treatment, it takes up to 2 days for the swelling to subside. ASK and YOU SHALL RECEIVE IF YOU ONLY BELIEVE IN WHAT YOU ASK FOR. Doesn't matter if animal or man. BUSH BUNNY NEEDS 2ND SHOULDER REPAIRSurgery is scheduled for Sept. 1. Three muscles have been torn in my right shoulder, including the original surgical site repaired last year. The injury happened in Feb. when I slipped while crossing an icy stream while hiking on my honeymoon. I have put off surgery as long as is possible, knowing the repair would require 6 weeks of recovery in RSA. I ask for your agreement for a RAPID and NEVENTFUL RECOVERY. Gerald will be with me for during this recovery time as much physical therapy will be needed. I'll also be a one handed typist, so won't be writing much. :) BUSHBUNNY PRAISE REPORTS1. Madelina, our 3 year old suspected Aids baby, walked 6 ft with only balancing help from me! She now weighs 7.5Kg or 16.5 lbs and is starting to really grow! 2. Rad led to the Lord 13 mother's who attend our program for malnourished babies. 3. Gerald's and I's new home is finished. Just needs a few coats of paint! Thanks for all who gave us this AWESOME WEDDING PRESENT! 4. Storm Harvest Ministries of Australia visited our children's program while I was in Zambia. They have pledged support for 2005 to help us reach out to more orphans and needy school children in Zambia. The Lord made it very clear this trip that O.U. is to use Ndola as a base, and REACH OUT to the surrounding area. Zambia, like most African nations, has a massive problem with orphans and widows with children. We need YOUR PRAYERS for MORE MISSIONARIES to help with the ever growing need to save the innocent little ones left behind by AIDS and other diseases. 5. Rad and Sarah are alone in Balama at this time, so keep them lifted up in prayer. Eric Dry, our mechanic/evangelist, will be driving up to join them in mid September. He will stay till Gerald and I get back in Oct. Much Love and Hugs, Bush Bunny Brenda
